Two brands that dominate this category and document themselves very differently. That documentation gap is not a footnote - it is most of the decision.

Buy PEET if you want to know what you are buying. Buy DryGuy if you want the fastest published cycle time and you do not care what it costs to run. That is a blunter conclusion than a brand comparison usually reaches, and it comes directly from what each manufacturer publishes.

Neither brand is hiding anything sinister; they have simply made different choices about what a customer needs. But those choices have consequences. We can tell you a PEET Original costs $4.75 to run for a 90-night season. We cannot tell you what a DryGuy Force Dry DX costs, because the number does not exist publicly, and we will not estimate it.

Where DryGuy wins

  • Published temperature limit. 105 °F on the Force Dry range is a genuinely useful number - it is the figure that tells you a heat setting is safe on a heat-molded ski liner. PEET publishes no temperature at all.
  • Cycle time. 1 to 2 hours for most garments, against PEET’s 1 to 4 hours on its fastest unit.
  • Price. DryGuy’s own listed price for the Force Dry is $49.99 and the Simple Dry $44.99, which undercuts most of the PEET range.

Where PEET wins

  • Warranty. 25 years against 1. On an appliance with no moving parts, that is a meaningful statement about expected life rather than a marketing number.
  • Range. PEET publishes a 42.5-inch Wader model and a 12-watt portable. DryGuy’s range is narrower at both ends.
  • Costability. You can calculate PEET’s lifetime running cost before you buy. For most people that turns out to be reassuring rather than alarming - it is pennies - but you can only know that because they printed the number.

The honest caveat on this comparison

We have not run either brand. This is a comparison of what two manufacturers publish about their own products, plus arithmetic anyone can repeat. It will tell you which unit fits your boots, your timeline and your electricity bill. It will not tell you which one is still working in year eight, and no page that has not owned both for eight years can honestly tell you that either.

The practical answer

For leather work boots dried nightly, PEET’s convection range: silent, 36 published watts, 25-year warranty, and no heat to harden the leather. For ski liners on a week’s trip, DryGuy’s Force Dry DX: a published 1-2 hour cycle and a 105 °F cap you can check against your bootfitter’s advice. For a household drying two pairs a night on a budget, the PEET Multi at 72 published watts.

Forced air capped at 105 F with a 3-hour timer - the fast choice, except DryGuy publishes no wattage, so nobody can cost it honestly.

Skip it if: You want to know what it costs to run. The maker publishes temperature, timer and dimensions but not watts or amps, and we will not print a number we cannot source.

PEET Advantage Plus 4-Shoe Dryer

The fast one: 220 watts of forced heated air that PEET publishes as a 1-to-4-hour job, with a no-heat mode that drops to a third of an amp.

Skip it if: Your boots are leather and you planned to run the heat setting nightly. Atsko is explicit that force drying with heat hardens and shrinks leather.

For documentation and warranty, clearly: PEET publishes wattage and amp draw on every model and offers 25 years on its convection dryers, against DryGuy's 1 year and no published wattage. For published cycle speed and a stated temperature limit, DryGuy is ahead.

How many watts is a DryGuy boot dryer?

DryGuy does not publish wattage on the Force Dry DX, Force Dry or Simple Dry product pages. Retailer listings quote figures, but those are not the manufacturer, so we do not use them for a running-cost calculation.

Which boot dryer has the longest warranty?

PEET publishes a 25-year warranty on its convection dryers, subject to registering the product within 10 days of purchase. The Advantage Plus is 5 years. DryGuy publishes 1 year on the models we checked.

Are PEET dryers made in the USA?

PEET states that the Original is made in the USA on its own product page. That claim is theirs, and it applies to specific models rather than the whole range, so check the individual product page for the model you are buying.
